I completely understand the concerns and fears of parents, as maternity and neonatal care are deeply personal, and uncertainty causes real anxiety.

However, it is important to be clear: the unit is not closing. Misinformation circulating in the community has understandably created distress, but the Neonatal Unit at Wishaw will continue to operate and will continue to care for the majority of premature babies here in Lanarkshire.

Families deserve clarity and reassurance, and I will always work to ensure they have accurate information and the support they need.
