Saving Scottish Hospitality

Yesterday I spoke in support of Scotland’s hospitality sector and the vital role it plays in our communities.
Our pubs, cafés, restaurants and late-night venues are under real pressure from rising costs, staffing challenges and wider economic issues beyond Holyrood’s control. That’s why it’s important we take a responsible, sustainable approach.
The 2026–27 Scottish Budget delivers £864 million in rates relief, supporting around 96% of retail and hospitality businesses, continuing the Small Business Bonus Scheme and providing certainty through transitional reliefs.
This is about backing businesses, protecting jobs and supporting the night-time economy while avoiding quick fixes that would create more uncertainty.
