Motherwell & Wishaw Community Action Network: 27th October 2025
Clare Adamson MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw hosted the latest meeting of the Community Action Network on 27th October
The Community Action Network (CAN) is an initiative which brings together charities, civil society groups, churches, community organisations, and campaigners with a shared commitment to tackling poverty and supporting people across North Lanarkshire.
The Group allows members to share their expertise, raise awareness of different issues facing their community, and work collaboratively to support people in Motherwell and Wishaw and across Lanarkshire.
The latest meeting had over 30 attendees with presentations from Motherwell Football Club Community Trust, Families Outside, Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub and Christians Against Poverty.
Ms Adamson, SNP MSP and Chair of Community Action Network, said:
“We have made some brilliant connections since starting the Community Action Network. It was fantastic to see everyone engaging so positively with the 5th meeting of the Community Action Network.
“I was delighted to see that positive links have been made by a number of organisations across Motherwell and Wishaw, and North Lanarkshire more widely since the last meeting, and that there are growing connections between groups. Helping our community, raising awareness of projects, and advocating for change is paramount to the work of my team, and the organisations attending the CAN.
“Some key issues highlighted were wellbeing through sport, assisting families affected by prison, debt recovery, and climate action.
“We are always happy to welcome new members – please contact my office for more information.
