Meeting with Playlist For Life UK
It was a pleasure to meet with Dr Mehar Shagufta from Playlist for Life to learn more about the charity’s important work ahead of #NationalPlaylistDay on 18 September.
Playlist for Life is an award-winning charity that promotes the use of personally meaningful music to improve wellbeing for people affected by dementia. Research has shown that familiar music can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and communication, and support more person-centred care.
With around 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland, initiatives such as this can make a real difference in the lives of individuals and their loved ones.
I was particularly interested to hear about the charity’s recent work in North Lanarkshire, including engagement with community groups in Motherwell and Wishaw, helping to raise awareness of the benefits of personalised music and the support available locally.
Thank you to Dr Shegufta for taking the time to meet with me and discuss how we can continue to raise awareness of dementia support services and help more people access this valuable resource.
