It is a tremendous honour to have been elected by colleagues from across the Parliament to serve as a Deputy Presiding Officer. I would like to sincerely thank members for placing their trust in me, and I look forward to supporting the Presiding Officer in ensuring the Parliament continues to operate fairly, effectively and with respect for all voices. Since first being elected to represent Motherwell and Wishaw, it has been a privilege to serve both my constituents and Scotland through a range of parliamentary roles, and I am proud to now take on this important responsibility. The Scottish Parliament is at the heart of our democracy, and I am committed to helping uphold the high standards, scrutiny and debate that people rightly expect from it.
