FMQs: Raising Housing Support Awareness for Constituents
It was only right that my first question to the First Minister this session, since being re-elected as your MSP, focused on an issue that consistently comes up in conversations at my community surgeries across Motherwell and Wishaw.
Too many people who are facing financial hardship, rent arrears or the impact of the bedroom tax, continued by the Labour government, are unaware that they may be eligible for support through Discretionary Housing Payments. Nobody should miss out on help they are entitled to because they haven’t been made aware of it.
I asked the First Minister to work with local authorities to ensure people are informed about this support when they apply for housing benefit, helping to get assistance to those who need it most.
Representing my constituents will always be my priority, and I will continue to raise the issues that matter most to our communities.
