B&Q In The Community reception
It was a pleasure to host the B&Q In The Community reception this evening within The Scottish Parliament and to welcome so many people involved in making a difference in communities across Scotland.
What stands out is that this work is about much more than financial support. It is about people giving their time, skills and expertise to help create safer homes, improve community spaces and support organisations that provide vital services.
The B&Q Foundation has now supported more than 1,300 charity projects and helped more than 600,000 people, while the Community Reuse programme ensures surplus products can be put to good use by schools, community groups, hospices and youth organisations.
I was also pleased to recognise the contribution of the B&Q team in Coatbridge, including Store Manager Derek Chubb whom my staff and I closely with, and whose work helps turn that commitment into practical support across Lanarkshire.
A huge thank you to the B&Q colleagues, charities, community organisations and customers who continue to give their time and energy to this important work.
Partnerships between businesses, charities and communities can make a real difference, and it was fantastic to bring people together this evening to celebrate what has already been achieved and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to B&Q for bringing us together.
